@kingjassper had his FIRST Ashiatsu massage, and apparently, I'm now accepting feline clients! ๐
My newest client has terrible posture, four legs, and absolutely NO boundaries. But when your client starts purring, you know you're doing something right!
So what exactly is ASHIATSU?
Ashiatsu, also known as Oriental Bar Therapy, is a massage technique where the therapist uses their FEET instead of hands, utilizing body weight and gravity to deliver broad, smooth, sustained pressure.
Unlike the concentrated pressure of thumbs or elbows, Ashiatsu distributes pressure over a larger surface area, making it an incredibly relaxing way to receive DEEP pressure without that sharp, poking sensation.
It's especially beneficial for clients with dense, fibrotic tissue or high muscle tone who enjoy deeper work.
But here's something important: PAIN does NOT automatically mean you need more pressure!
Ashiatsu isn't appropriate for every body or every tissue type. If you have very little soft-tissue coverage, prominent bony structures, or certain medical conditions, other massage techniques may be a better fit.
That's why understanding the tissue you're working with matters more than simply applying MORE pressure.
And while Jasper seems convinced he's discovered the ultimate luxury spa experience, my human clients get a much more thorough assessment before their feet-on treatment! ๐
Curious about Ashiatsu? Come experience it for yourself!

@kingjassper gives it four paws up. His review is pending because he fell asleep during the session.
