18D and PJs are both elite. They just train for different fights.
18D are built for the clinical side.
They go into remote villages, diagnose, prescribe, and treat. That’s their lane and they’re damn good at it.
PJs are built for the chaos. Triage under fire, rescue, and recovery. Getting a casualty from the worst possible spot back alive. That’s where they shine.
Both can do the other’s work. Both train hard.

Great skill set for both different applications. I can’t poop or can’t stoop for two weeks 18D where you at I’m leaking and or stuck on the side of a cliff where them Jolly Green feet baby!!!! But both awesome fucking Operators who go above and beyond… Love ya both.

@combatmedictrng2 Dude, active duty 18Ds suck at medicine. I trust more a civilian EMT who works at a busy 911 system than an 18D. Also, I wouldn’t trust an 18D to do a tooth extraction. I trust more a civilian dental hygienist. Let’s not even get into the alleged veterinary training that they have. It’s really really poor. i’ve met several 18Ds that couldn’t even read a 12 lead let alone interpret it. SOCOM ATP is a joke.

Only one does the SOCM long course, and both are experts in battlefield triage and trauma care.
