My debut album is out tonight at midnight
Ive always struggled with sharing my music as the songs I write can be quite raw and emotional. I don’t think I’ve ever sat down with the intention to write a song, they come as a response to the state im in at the time and because of this I feel like this album is a kind of self portrait.
My journey with this album started at Noise music charity in the heart of Liverpool where I was taken in and guided by Phil Kearns (who I consider a mentor and good friend).
I didn’t even sing at the time and struggled to play infront of anybody or see any worth in my music. Over the years Phil kept me on the path and encouraged my writing, recording demos and often sending them to me months later or quoting lines from songs I’d written. I’m so greatful for that friendship and for the continued support of Noise.
About 4 years ago another member of noise called Joe Carroll got me in contact with Ali Horn. Me and Ali recorded and produced this album in his home studio. Hanging out and becoming good friends really created a space where I could fully explore and express these tunes.
From the start it was important to me for these songs to sound like they did in my head and be an expression of my state of mind. Because of this I played most of the instruments myself and wrote the parts. Thanks to Tom Rush for playing drums on the record as well as Ajay Jackson for providing extra lead and texture on the songs “the well and “in the green”, Ben Truman for playing violin on “burn” and Garvan at Docklands Speed shop studio for help recording drums and mixing
