The results are in! Following the vote across our website and Facebook group, Machka the Anatolian Shepherd Mix is officially elected the 3rd Honorary Dog Mayor of New York City, with a final tally of 4,877 votes to 4,589 votes for Dr .Computer Chips the Shih Tzu! It was an extraordinarily close race—the lead changed hands 12 times throughout the day, with a surge in voting in the last hour—but Machka’s momentum proved decisive! Dr. Computer Chips will assume the role of Machka’s right-hand pup, serving as Deputy Dog Mayor of NYC!

We’ll have a fuller breakdown of the round’s results in our next Substack entry, so read and subscribe at the link in our bio!

We want to extend our deepest thanks to Dr. Computer Chips and all of the pups who ran for NYC Dog Mayor—it’s a grueling process and we’re grateful to all who participated. Our gratitude extends to our followers and supporters from both NYC and around the world—over 20 countries voted in the final round alone, proving that our message of positivity, kindness, fun, and civic engagement knows no borders!

But the ballot-casting isn’t over! Please get out and VOTE in today’s Human Being Election Day, to ensure that Machka isn’t the only great person elected to office this week!

Machka and Dr. Chips will take the Oaf of Office at our indoguration ceremony on the steps of NY City Hall on Sunday, January 17! The ceremony will mark the Peaceful Transfer of Pawer from our current Mayor Simon, who has served with great dognity and forthrightness!

And keep an eye on our Instagram, Facebook page, and our website for updated brackets, info about upcoming contests and events, and more!

And so, we finally made it and set up base in our new home in the south west. We always had a plan to return here, and that’s become more important as our parents need a little more support. It’s a lot to ask of the youngest two, uprooting them from their lives and their friends. Hopefully they won’t hold it against us forever. We bribe them with beaches and surf and pasties.

And a nice view.

And time with cousins.

And compulsory forest walks.

And new kittens. Who the dog has given up objecting to.

And commitment to a great Halloween.

And time with cousins and grandparents in the pub.

And visits to junk shops (oh, that’s just for me)

And new clubs.

And more pubs, and cousins and grandparents.

So yes, it’s been worth it.

So I’m now 50/50 north west/south west. Which means several days a week I hide away in Salford to devote myself to work (#devoted), life admin, and FaceTiming my beloved children/husband/dog/kittens. Mostly the dog tbf.

We also bribed her with pasties.

Democratic Rep. Haley Stevens is facing backlash after endorsing Republican Mike Rogers over Democratic nominee Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan's key Senate race just two days before Election Day.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries called the move a "terrible decision," while Reps. Delia Ramirez and Pramila Jayapal have called for Stevens to be pushed out of the party's House caucus.

Jeffries says Democratic leaders will discuss possible consequences when Congress returns.
