In case you need a fun fact for your Tuesday, in the past 20 years, it has rained on Halloween in Kansas City only 4 times.
Why does it seem like Halloween and rain go hand in hand? Maybe it’s because in the previous 20 years before that, between 1984 to 2004, it rained 10 times.

What will it do this year?

You can be eating healthy, training consistently and doing everything right… yet still struggle with a swollen, uncomfortable stomach 😔

And something I wish more women understood is that a distended tummy doesn’t automatically mean you’ve gained body fat, that your nutrition is poor… or that all your hard work has gone out the window!

There are so many things happening inside our bodies that can influence how we look and feel from one day to the next. LITERALLY!

Hormonal fluctuations, digestion, stress, food sensitivities and underlying health conditions can all play a role.

And sometimes, those things are completely outside our control.

For me personally, living with adenomyosis and endometriosis means abdominal swelling and discomfort can be part of my reality, even when I’m doing everything I can to look after myself.

As you can see in the photo above…

I have happy tummy days, and then I have painful, bad tummy days.

But one thing I’ve learned is that while I can’t always control what my body does .. I CAN control how I choose to support it.

And for me, nutrition and training are a big part of that.

I’ve become much more mindful of how I train, how I recover and what foods I eat.

I’m also much more intentional about supporting my digestion and gut health.

Not because I believe food can cure every underlying issue, but because making the right adjustments can sometimes help alleviate symptoms and make everyday life a little more comfortable.

Because nutrition isn’t just about losing body fat or building muscle. It’s also about how you FEEL.

I’ve tried many diets in my time, and that’s one of the reasons I teamed up with my partner to build our nutrition coaching app Meal Engine.

I don’t believe there’s a one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to nutrition.

And that’s something we’ve taken into consideration when developing our approach to nutrition coaching.

Because what works for one person might not work for another.

We all have different goals, lifestyles, preferences and nutritional needs.

How I picked my surgeon for my 🍒 job.
*currently 2 weeks post op*
In trying to condense this story as much as possible I’ve obviously omitted some details but I should note that I spent an entire year researching local surgeons, looking at their work, reviewing their patients testimonials and asking around for personal experiences.

Whilst my first consultation was quite confronting, disappointing and jarring, I’m grateful for the entire experience as it led me ultimately to a surgeon I felt extremely comfortable with and valued.

When you hear another kid tell your kid “you can’t play with us,” it can hit you right in the chest. Of course you want to march over and fix it.

Here’s what I want you to do instead:

1️⃣ Remember this is not an emergency. It’s painful, but only emergencies need urgent action.
2️⃣ Just watch. Say nothing for 10, 20, 30 seconds. Your kid might handle it before you ever have to step in.
3️⃣ Think about the future. Your kid is learning patterns now that will play out when they’re 18, 25. You want them to know they have coping skills, not that someone will always swoop in to solve it.
4️⃣ Hold back on “You have to let my kid play.” When we do that, we’re teaching our kid they should want to be accepted by people who aren’t being kind to them.

If it still stings later, for them or for you, that’s okay too. You can say something like: “That was a hard moment at the park. I’m here if you want to talk about it.” Then let them lead.
