I’ve gathered together some of the most impactful books and authors I’ve come to know and love over the years.
May their words inspire you, as they have inspired me, to live a life that mirrors our mat.

Journey to the Heart by Melody Beattie is a testament to love, loss, and all the small moments in between. Melody wrote the majority of this book while on a cross country road trip, seeking peace and respite as she navigated grief and trauma. She offers daily meditations, 365 days worth, to illustrate that love, joy, loss, and pain, are all the same. In a world inundated by so much heaviness, her journey teaches her (us) that the human experience is quite rich—that two things can exist at once, and that there is room for spiritual renewal even during times of unquestionable uncertainty.
Signs by Laura Lynne Jackson and Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom explore the depths of grief and creatively remind us that we are all connected.
Signs helped me feel connected to the invisible but very much real world around me. After losing a loved one, Signs taught me that love does not end with loss, it just changes how we give and receive it.
Tuesdays with Morrie grounded me in the profound reality that we are all we have. Time with each other is the most important and raw experience we have as humans, and it is a gift that should be shared, documented, and honored as sacred.
Signs and Tuesdays with Morrie are not your traditional yoga books that teach you how to hold a pose for impressively long lengths or how to float above your mat. These two books are stark and simple reminders of what the whole point of being alive is about—togetherness in all forms. And to me, that is yoga.
Untethered Soul and The Yamas and Niyamas are two books that helped me understand the historical underpinnings of yoga and the guiding principles of a life on and off the mat. I’d recommend these two books to someone seeking ways to better understand the connection between mind, body, and spirit, especially from a philosophical and ethical standpoint.
