Dark Notes by Chelle Rose 🖤
🎧 Performed in duet by Maxine Mitchell & Joe Arden
Wow! This one was truly unexpected, and I loved every minute of it!
McKinley, our curvy FMC, has spent so much of her life feeling unworthy, unattractive, and unloved. Some of what she experiences is painfully relatable, while other parts are simply despicable and heartbreaking. But she’s resilient, and like so many of us, she just wants to be loved and accepted for who she is. Enter Jagger, our MMC, who does exactly that. The way he loves her and treats her is EVERYTHING. This man is a perfect example of why we have book boyfriends! 🖤
The story is raw, beautifully written, and handled with care and respect. There are so many layers to it, and I was completely invested from beginning to end. I honestly couldn’t put this one down!
Now, the narration? PERFECTION.
Maxine Mitchell has a gift for bringing out the deepest emotions in her characters, delivering performances that are gut-wrenching in the best possible way. Her incredible range makes it feel like you’re listening to a full multicast production all on her own.
Joe Arden was MADE for the rockstar role! He portrayed Jagger impeccably, and his range when voicing multiple characters is phenomenal. He gives each character a distinct personality, keeping every performance engaging and unique.
These two are one of my absolute favorite duos, and whenever they perform together, I know I’m in for some magic. ✨
Easy 5/5! The story, the characters, and the narration were all incredible. Do yourself a favor and give this one a listen! 🖤🎧
