8 days agoThank you for this, I couldn’t agree more! 👏 I’m in my final year of undergrad - about to start postgrad - and wanting to pursue a career in media, in the Global South. It’s shocking how much of a push there is to “embrace AI” when in fact it should be to “boycott AI”. Its usage does just make you average and it gives uncreative people the illusion that they are artistic.
9 days agoI like your self-mastery connection/disconnection from AI: In this modern, fast-paced, technologically driven world we are continuously under pressure to find the time to relax and destress so that we can replenish our resources to keep going, to keep surviving. Some of us are privileged enough to work in the creative space, creating with words, images or sounds. I say privileged because it is these pursuits which give the opportunity for self-mastery. We step into a space where focus, freedom, and most importantly self-expression are key to unlocking our vast imaginations. Most people have to find the time to explore their inner worlds, have to set aside the time (if even possible) from their daily grind, to meditate, to dream, to understand themselves. Whereas creatives are lucky enough to have this built into their “jobs”. We have that quiet space to reflect on who we are, our skills, where we can improve, be better versions of ourselves and our abilities, hone our craft and our humanness. When you lock into “the zone” you can clear your head, think of nothing but what is in front of you; your mind can travel from life problem to life problem, seeking and maybe finding clarity on a personal issue; or burst open into more worlds and unlimited possibilities of the imagination, for the work and for yourself. Why the fuck would you use AI to add to the meaningless noise and clutter in your life when you aren’t using it for the self-mastery, the calm, the reconnection your mind and body deserve?! 🙏🏼❤️
