Countdown to our album launch event... 10 days to go...
Over the next 10 days I'll tell the story of a track from the new album.
'Humility'
Originally composed as an instrumental piece for the 12-piece ensemble Intergalactic Brasstronauts, as a nod to the great composer and producer Quincy Jones, 'Humility' was performed at many UK festivals in the summer of 2021, including Glastonbury, Wilderness, The Great Escape and Camp Bestival. It only existed as a demo, recorded in my front room, until Quincy Jones sadly passed away in November 2024. At this point I decided to rearrange and re-record some of the parts, so that it could be included on the new King Zepha album as a tribute to Quincy. An explosive fanfare intro dissipates into a chilled-out, trombone-led, rocksteady track, with jazzy instrumental solos and an a cappella ending, based on a poem written by guest vocalist, B Dubbs.
Our album launch party is taking place at @smokestackleeds on 7 November. Tickets are available from eventbrite (link in bio)
