On 28 October, the Supreme Court tagged a petition from the Indian arm of a UK-based trans-exclusionary organisation, Women’s Declaration International (WDI), with the petitions filed by queer-trans folks against the Trans Amendment Act.

The new petition challenges the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Amendment Act, 2026, for allowing "biological men" to obtain “opposite gender certificates” and enjoy protections reserved for “biological women."

The Supreme Court issued notices to central government ministries to file a response to this petition.

The court hearing on the petitions challenging the amended law was scheduled for today but it didn't come up. As per the Supreme Court website, it's slated to be heard on 18 November now.

Why are you not covering that this has been funded by the billionaire nilekani's daughter? Using the family wealth to do anti trans stuff. Have you guys asked @rnp_foundation what they views are and of their partners?

Strange that WDI is represented by a man fighting for women!! Aren’t there any women there to fight? Shameless, this clearly shows who is behind all this nonsense!! #transrightsarehumanrights
