Short progression with Lipscomb University commit Mivie Lamb! 🥎
The goal: Build connection, improve barrel control, and create a more efficient swing without sacrificing athleticism.
Drill 1: Short Bat | Top Hand | Connection Ball
Promotes proper connection between the barrel and back shoulder body.
Develops top-hand control and barrel awareness through contact.
Drill 2: Short Bat | Connection Ball | No-Roll Finish
Reinforces connection throughout the swing.
Encourages the barrel to stay through the hitting zone longer without prematurely rolling the wrists.
The athlete must be able to decel on time to release the ball and not roll over.
Drill 3: Split Grip | Long (35”) Light (30 oz) Bat | No-Roll Finish
Challenges barrel control with a longer bat.
Helps the hitter feel how the hands work together while maintaining direction through contact.
Creates a proper decal pattern and doesn't allow the hands to manipulate the swing.
Drill 4: Balance Pad | Over the Block | Game Swing
Challenges stability and lower-half control.
Encourages the hitter to maintain stability and control as they move forward.
The progression matter. Each movement builds on the previous one, ultimately allowing the athlete to compete with a more efficient, controlled, and athletic swing.
Train the movement. Trust the swing.
