GABRIELA BC condemns the Cornell 7 case and every institution that shields abusers from accountability! We support all survivors and ‘Jane Does’ navigating immense trauma from physical and sexual violence.
We live in a feudal-patriarchal system that targets women, children and LGBTQIA+ people. Women and gender marginalized folks are often forced into silence as they are left to manage the aftermath of sexual abuse and gender-based violence in isolation. Oftentimes, the legal system will punish victims for seeking justice.
The shame should be directed toward the perpetrators who benefit from the feudal-patriarchal system. Abusers can avoid accountability because institutions can use their wealth and power to continue this cycle of violence. We also see this through increased militarization in our homelands and ongoing corruption that exploits the working class!
Women and gender marginalized peoples are not merely victims but central to the struggle of ending oppression and feudal-patriarchal society. GABRIELA BC calls on all women and gender marginalized folks to collectively identify the roots of oppression that manufacture worldwide economic crises. We REJECT this cycle of putting power, profit, and property over the protection of people, land, and the fundamental right to live with dignity! We DEMAND change!
