A fan-made concept imagining Sydney Sweeney as Chun-Li has sparked conversations about casting for the upcoming live-action Street Fighter movie. However, the role has already been officially given to actress Callina Liang, who will portray the legendary fighter in the 2026 adaptation. The film also features Andrew Koji as Ryu and Noah Centineo as Ken, bringing several of the franchise’s most recognizable characters to the big screen.

Liang, who has been a fan of Street Fighter for years, reportedly committed to extensive physical preparation for the role, training in kickboxing, Taekwondo, and Wushu. She also reportedly gained approximately 20 pounds while preparing to portray Chun-Li, a character famous for her powerful kicks, athleticism, and martial arts abilities. With Chun-Li being one of gaming’s most recognizable female characters, fans are particularly interested in seeing how her signature fighting style translates into live action.
