Look Again, this year’s Middle School Community Day theme, invited students to see the world from new perspectives, challenge assumptions, and discover the power of empathy and connection. Middle Schoolers were joined by students from the Bronx-based Lavelle School for the Blind, learning and creating together through hands-on classroom activities like blackout poetry and Braille UNO as they explored new ways to experience and understand the world. Special guest speaker Rocco Fiorentino, a Nashville music producer living with a visual impairment, shared his experiences navigating life and pursuing his passion for music, inspiring students to reflect on the importance of perspective and resilience. Students then came together for a 5K walk through Van Cortlandt Park in support of Montefiore Children’s Hospital, then wrapped up the day with games, music, treats, and time together on Rose Field—a meaningful celebration of compassion, community, and seeing beyond what meets the eye.
