On October 26, singer Diljit Dosanjh reportedly visited the Taj Mahal in Agra under CISF security ahead of his Aura India Tour concert in Delhi.
He used an old Indian Aadhaar card to pay the domestic entry fee of ₹50 instead of the ₹1,100 fee applicable to foreign nationals.
The incident has drawn attention as Dosanjh reportedly acquired U.S. citizenship around 2022 and has since travelled on a US passport.
Separately, hotel staff in Agra reportedly alerted the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) after the singer’s foreign identification documents were not immediately furnished during check-in.
The ‘Times of India’ published a report on the same. However, they did not reveal the name of the artist.
An Aadhaar card was subsequently presented, reportedly leading to scrutiny over compliance with foreign national reporting requirements.
The mandatory Form C submission was delayed due to the documentation discrepancy and was completed shortly after midnight on October 27, after the singer had checked out.
He also entered India through Mumbai on a business visa for his tour commitments.
The incidents have sparked discussions over his documentation, visa status and the applicable entry fee for foreign nationals.
The allegations have not been independently verified.
