After last month's training day when we met our shortlisted applicants, the new Trainee cohort has begun their six month placement working with and learning from Waterloo Road's team of experts: the Heads of Department for Camera, Sound, Art, Costume, Hair and Make-up, Assistant Directing and Post.

We will introduce them and some of the key production people in the coming weeks and months as we follow their journey.

Hands-on training is at the heart of our DNA and providing it is one of our major driving forces. We are proud to work with the teams at Rope Ladder Fiction and Wall To Wall and are grateful to Screen Alliance North and BFI with National Lottery Funding for making this possible.

A highlight in my diary is always meeting the cohort and then charting their progress.
