I’m a mother of three. I’m a choreographer.

“How do you do it all?”

I’ve been asked this a lot lately. And it made me reflect on what it really means to be both a mother and an artist.

The truth? I don’t. And I’m exhausted.

But one thing I refuse to give up on is my ambition.
I’ve come to accept that reaching my dreams will probably take me longer than it would for a man in the same profession. No doubt about it.

I’ve made peace with my own timeline. But not with the inequality behind it.
The dance world has been dominated by men for far too long. Things are changing, but painfully slowly. Women still have to fight harder for opportunities, trust, and space to lead.

Nothing new. And unfortunately, motherhood doesn’t make it any easier.Luckily, we have some badass mothers paving the way. I’m constantly blown away by the incredible mothers and artists I meet. Their talent, strength, and determination inspire me every day.

Because motherhood didn’t make me less dedicated to my work.My children fuel my creativity, my sensitivity, and my ambition. But my time has also become more precious than ever.

And here’s my point:

I don’t want to be admired for doing it all. I want a world where women don’t have to do it all to be taken seriously.
Being a mother shouldn’t limit our dreams & being ambitious shouldn’t make us feel like less of a mother.

To all the beautiful, badass mothers breaking boundaries: I see you. And in case no one has told you lately, you’re doing an amazing job. ❤️
