Steal the advice I give to my clients episode 2!!
Have you lost all your progress if injury prevents you from training normally?
The simple answer is no.
The long answer is still no, but there’s a bit more to it.
Your body doesn’t forget years of training because you’ve had a few weeks off or had to change things up. Strength and muscle hang around a lot longer than you think, and when you do get back to it, it comes back MUCH quicker than it took to build the first time. That’s muscle memory doing its job.
What I tell my clients when they’re injured:
1. Train what you CAN train. Sore shoulder? Legs are still there. Bad knee? Upper body can still be trained. Work around it, not through it.
2. Keep your nutrition consistent. This isn’t the time to under eat out of panic. Your body needs fuel to recover.
3. Do your rehab. The boring stuff is the stuff that gets you back quicker.
4. Sleep, steps, hydration. Still count.
5. Get it looked at properly if it’s not improving. Pushing through pain isn’t hardcore, it’s just a longer injury.
The progress you’ve made isn’t sitting on a timer waiting to disappear.
A setback isn’t a reset.
If you’re dealing with an injury right now and feel like you’re back at square one, drop me a message. I’m always happy to chat it through 🫶
