“A great party needs three things: people you love, people you don’t know, and at least one person you probably shouldn’t be talking to,” @derekblasberg says. He would know. From growing up in St. Louis and interning at W to attending multiple Met Galas and rubbing shoulders with everyone from Valentino Garavani and Celine Dion to Dua Lipa and Mariah Carey, Blasberg has spent decades at the heart of fashion’s social scene. For our latest installment of Life in Parties, the writer and bon vivant opens his personal archive to revisit the people, places, and unforgettable nights that shaped him. WE DID IT!!! Tonight, Providence became the first city to pass a binding divestment law by popular vote and will be the largest city in the US to divest from Israel. By a landslide vote, the people of this city chose to divest from genocide. This historic victory is a testament: people across this country demand an end to US support for Israel’s genocide and apartheid, and Palestinian liberation is our compass. This vote is also the outcome of a campaign that has spanned our city, mobilized countless volunteers, and united neighbors behind a shared vision of Palestinian liberation and working class power. Let this victory be an inspiration to our movement across the country and around the world: you don’t need to wait for any politician or party’s permission to fight for Palestine, all you need is the power of the people! Now and forever — FREE PALESTINE!
Mother sentenced to 7 consecutive life terms after her 11-year-old daughter gives birth at home to her husband’s baby A woman in Oklahoma, United States, has been sentenced to seven consecutive life sentences after failing to protect her 11-year-old daughter from sexual abuse and then allowing the child to give birth at home without medical assistance after she became pregnant with the her husband’s child. Cherie Walker was sentenced to seven consecutive life sentences by a Muskogee County judge on Friday, October 30, 2026, per Oklahoma City Fox affiliate, KOKL and public Muskogee County court records reviewed by PEOPLE. Walker, 34, was charged with one count of child sexual abuse and six counts of child neglect in August 2025 after authorities learned that her 11-year-old daughter had given birth to a baby inside the family’s home without prenatal care or medical assistance on August 16, 2025, according to reports from local outlets. In a statement to KOTV at the time, Muskogee County Assistant District Attorney Janet Hutson said that both Walker and her husband, Dustin Walker, claimed that they did not know the child was pregnant when she gave birth. “This child is traumatized,” Hutson said. “She’s been through a horrific ordeal. I mean, not only has somebody gotten her pregnant, but she gave birth at home without medical assistance, and this will be her life for the rest of her life.” In another statement to KJRH, the district attorney’s office said that DNA testing confirmed that Walker’s husband — the child’s stepfather — was the baby’s father. Prosecutors later argued that Walker knew her husband was sexually abusing her daughter but did nothing to stop it. She was convicted on all seven felony counts on July 17, 2026. The child’s stepfather pleaded guilty to felony child sexual abuse and neglect charges in March. He was later sentenced to life in prison.
RIP KORAN IRVING. XNYPD. P I G shot and killed him in a road rage fit on the George Washington Bridge. He was allowed to go home, have dinner with his family and scrub his Social Media before turning himself in for a manslaughter charge, not 1 8 7. . . RIP Koran. But Da wasn’t in on the corruption, it’s just a few bad apples. #backtheblue
