Formula One is a pain in the ass for the people who actually live and work in Las Vegas. Weeks of construction, blocked access, traffic nightmares and grandstands taking over the Strip. What does that mean for the mom-and-pop business waiting for customers? The Uber or Lyft driver stuck in traffic? The restaurant employee worried about their next shift? Officials love talking about economic impact. I want them talking about WHO gets that money and who pays the price. A successful weekend for a luxury suite doesn’t automatically mean a successful month for the people keeping this town running. Small businesses have reported millions in losses tied to race disruptions. They deserve to be heard, too. If we’re committing public tourism dollars to this event, show us the full accounting: the benefits, the costs, the lost business and the impact on workers.
