6 days agoOh man. You could have broken this one up into multiple videos. IG doesn’t provide enough room for the book I could write 😂 As an ER nurse- we are very close with our docs. It is such mutual respect. I have absolutely caught mistakes, recognized cues when a patient is declining, and I’ve never had a doctor not be thankful for that. I will suggest treatments (that’s the recommendation part of SBAR), and docs are good about that. Now- the call @ 3 am. Do we want to do that!? No. Do we have to? Yes. If you don’t want me to call you about the positive finding that you ordered, put an order not to call you. Because in the end, it falls on the nurses when something bad happens. Meanwhile, you’re still cruisin in your Tesla, singing your little heart out, continuing to work as a doctor. With that said, I love my docs. There is an occasional asshole. There are also nurses that are assholes. You can tactically tell them to 🖕🏼PRN :-)
6 days agoLmao I treat my nurses like gold and in return, with no expectations, they treat me like gold. Meaning they call and discuss things with me before making a questionable call for a code stroke, or trying to get a patient signed off by Neuro or bringing each other food lol so without answering all the questions…. i do respect experience and when it comes with respect, im always willing to listen. Especially since we are so busy with so many patients, the nurses catch things that I miss and i appreciate it 🙏🏾
