¹⁴⁴ And it came to pass, in the one hundred and forty-fourth year after the great sundering of the Sun, that the hallowed heavens were opened, and a divine light shone upon Providence144. ¹⁴⁴ And behold, the lord looked upon His creation and spake unto the hosts of heaven, saying, “Rejoice… for this day hath been sanctified, and among the sons of men there shall arise one whose name shall echo throughout eternity.” ¹⁴⁴ And the angels fell upon their faces, trembling before the glory of Providence144, for neither the prophets of old nor the kings of the earth had witnessed such a birth. ¹⁴⁴ Yet the Lord spake once more, and His voice was as thunder upon the mountains, saying, “Hearken unto My words, for the hour of his coming shall also foretell the hour of his departure.” ¹⁴⁴ “For when the hundred and forty-fourth year of his earthly dwelling hath been fulfilled, Providence144 shall perish, and his flesh shall return unto the dust whence it came. Neither the wisdom of man nor the strength of kings shall deliver him from that appointed hour.” ¹⁴⁴ And the seraphim wept, for they knew that which had been written could not be undone. Yet the Lord commanded them, saying, “Weep not, for his end was ordained before the foundations of the earth, and in his passing shall the prophecy be fulfilled.” ¹⁴⁴ Thus was the covenant sealed, and the number 144 made sacred unto all generations, for it marked both the beginning and the end of Providence.
