Watching the pros free surfing at Cloud 9 ahead of the WCT competition brings back so many memories of an incredible trip I made back in 2009 for Surfer Rule, alongside the amazing @victorgonzalezfoto @luisrodriguezsurfer @aitorromo and @danipablos
Iโm not sure if we were the first to publish a feature about this wave and its surroundings in Spain, but one thing I do know is that we scored some incredible waves thanks to the swell generated by the tail end of a typhoon that had hit northern Philippines.
On the bigger days, we had the peak all to ourselves. On the smaller days, we shared the waves with the handful of locals who paddled out.

I was the first person to publish a feature in a magazine in Spanish about Siargao Island - and I named the wave ยซ Cloud 9 ยป in 1992 ๐๐โโ๏ธ๐ต๐ญ
