Photosynthesis is the process where plants, algae, and some bacteria turn sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide into oxygen and sugar (glucose). This process happens inside tiny parts of plant cells called chloroplasts.It works in two main steps: Light-Dependent Reactions: Chlorophyll in the plant leaves absorbs sunlight. The plant uses this light energy to split water molecules. This step produces oxygen, which is released into the air, and stores energy in temporary helper molecules. The Calvin Cycle (Light-Independent Reactions): The plant takes in carbon dioxide from the air. Using the stored energy from the first step, it converts the carbon dioxide into glucose.
