A day of site-writing at Smithfield Market with
@louatessaWe followed a series of exercises to visit the site in an expanded and collective way. Here are some snippets, guided by artist and sound researcher Lou-Atessa Marcellin:
Slow Walk
A. Walk as a group without speaking for at least 30 minutes. Decide who leads the walk nonverbally. Each of you should be the leader at some point.
Walk as slowly as you possibly can. Adapt your pace to one another, pay attention, be in dialogue with your peers. What is audible/ inaudible (sonically, spatially and visually) -take a mental note of everything. Be in the moment, be bored, impatient, focus on what is going on outside of you.
Map
B. At the end of the walk, take a piece of paper and map your walk without lifting your pen up from the paper from starting to end point. Compare with other and discuss
You can see some of these maps in the post.
