SWEET AS CHERRY PIE

Halloween Editorial | Creative Brief

Sweet as Cherry Pie is a Halloween editorial exploring heartbreak, femininity, and revenge through the lens of a vintage housewife aesthetic. Inspired by the smooth, seductive energy of Sade’s “Cherry Pie,” the concept follows a scorned woman navigating the aftermath of a broken heart.

Turning to baking as a form of comfort, she prepares a sweet treat to lift her spirits, embracing the familiar idea that sometimes a woman just needs something sweet to make herself feel better. The editorial begins with the charm and innocence of a 1950s domestic fantasy, gradually revealing a darker reality beneath the perfectly polished exterior.

As the pie finishes baking, the story takes a sinister turn. What begins as an innocent act of self-care becomes a darkly playful portrayal of heartbreak and revenge. By the final scene, she sits down to enjoy her freshly baked pie at the very scene of the crime, completely composed and seemingly unbothered.

Through vintage styling, seductive imagery, and dark humor, Sweet as Cherry Pie contrasts the sweetness of traditional femininity with the bitterness of heartbreak, creating a visually alluring yet unsettling Halloween narrative.
