i know waylon likely sang this with jessi in mind but it means something differently to me entirely. i sing it about myself. this song reminds me to be strong when self-abandon feels like the last course of action.

at the end of the day i’m really all i’ve got. and i have to live with me forever. it whispers don’t give up.

a month ago i made a daily list of things to do and the last thing was “be kind to yourself.” some days i’m not sure how.

i really battle with that. how not to despise where i am now or idolize where i hope to go.
