And in the end, I realized that Amira was nothing more than the perfect union of an Indira who has always been curious, daring, and unafraid to take risks.
Amira carries within her that three-year-old girl who believed she was a princess in her father’s bedtime stories. The little girl who asked to dance, who dreamed of a sparkling red dress, and who, years later, found the courage to leave home.
Amira was born from my adventures, my restless spirit, and my desire to discover what lies beyond the familiar. She arrived exactly when she was meant to, to remind me of something I sometimes forget: that I am so much more than I believe myself to be.
Amira Paragon is not a new Indira. She is a universe within me that I am only beginning to discover.
Amira means princess in Arabic, and Paragon represents an ideal of excellence. I like to think it isn’t about perfection, but about that restlessness that has always lived within me, that desire to never settle for what I already know about myself.
At first, I thought about keeping her a secret. I was afraid. Afraid for tango, for my career, for that part of myself to which I have devoted so many years and so much love.
But something about hiding her never felt right. Because this is also who I am. And somehow, the artist within me always finds her way to be heard.
I am, first and foremost, a tango dancer. I always have been, and I always will be. But everything I have experienced beyond tango has somehow found its way back into it. Every experience, every art form, every path I have dared to explore has helped me understand a little more of who I am.
Perhaps it was never about becoming someone different, but about making room for all those parts of myself still waiting to be discovered.
And today, when I look at Amira, I also recognize that little three-year-old girl.
The one who dreamed of being a princess, without knowing just how many things she would one day dare to become.
I don’t know if I created you, if I found you, or if I simply finally allowed you to emerge.
Welcome, Amira Paragon.
