Fears around witchcraft in Exeter gripped people in the 16th and 17th Centuries with many trials leading to the deaths of those accused of casting spells and curses. 🧙‍♀️

So interesting… I’m reading a book The Names of a Hare, set in the West Country during the 1600s, about a young woman who was accused of being a witch. It’s fiction but well researched and written.

Interesting! I was in Exeter for two weeks and missed this. But I did find the Turks Head! And the Ship Inn.

Is this related to the Bideford Witch Trials I believe 3 Bideford Women were executed for witchcraft in 1682
