When people say “high sugar,” they often mean donuts, chocolate, ice cream, cookies, cake and pastries. Most of those foods get around half their calories from fat. Hardly anyone overeats spoonfuls of plain sugar. Sugar isn’t uniquely fattening. Fat gain comes from eating more energy than you burn. For example, in one study two groups ate the same calories, but one got 121 g of sugar a day and the other 12 g. Both lost about 7 kg in 6 weeks and saw similar improvements in blood pressure. The real issue is calorie-dense, hyper-palatable fat + sugar foods, because they’re less filling and easy to overeat. Sugary drinks are the one exception as liquid calories don’t fill you up much, so they add up fast (aka just have the zero calorie soft drink instead of the sugary one). Obviously the above doesn’t mean sugar should make up half your diet. Most of what you eat should still be whole foods, with plenty of fibre, protein, fruit and veg. But if your calories are in check and your diet is mostly good, you don’t need to fear sugar.

Swipe to see card TWO! ➡️ Hello Friends, Don’t look, but it’s already the first of November! I seriously can’t believe it! I feel as if I took the Christmas tree down just a few months ago. Anyone else with me on this? I may not be overly excited about how fast life is passing by, but I am super excited that we have a new challenge starting today @colorhuescolorchallenge and it’s also time to start sharing the wonderful @heroarts My Monthly Hero kits with you all! The kits are perfect as they are all things Christmas! I’m seriously in LOVE with it all but this Ho Ho Ho cover plate is so cool! As always you can find all the details about both of my cards over on my blog! I hope you will also drop by Color Hues and check out the cards by my fabulous team and guest and play along! We would love to have you! Have a great day! #heroarts #cardmaking #colorhuescolorchallenge #christmascards #mymonthlyhero
