There are 5 frogs sitting on a rock, 4 decide to jump. How many are left?? 1 right? No, the answer is 5 because decision does not equal taking action. You can decide to do a million things but until you actually do them, nothing counts. This was a lessons from John Maxwell’s book - The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth. Today’s conversation with Varun was an inspiring one, we talked about leadership, communication and connecting with people. His insights on leadership comes from a decade of leading people first hand. The biggest lesson from today’s episode was that communication does not equal connection. No matter how good of an orator you are but if people don’t feel a connection towards you, they simply aren’t gonna listen to you.
Great leaders understand their audience, they lead from a sense of curiosity, in that they are curious as to what the other person wants. But the biggest lesson on leadership comes from the fact that leadership is not a title. Your title won’t make you a good leader, you can be a CEO but if people don’t see you as their leader, that title is in vain.
The biggest question to ask yourself is what are you giving to the world? We live in a world where the language you speak was developed by someone else, the clothes you wear were made by someone else. So in this consumer driven world, what is it that you’re giving back? John F Kennedy once said, “ Don’t ask what the country can do for you but what you can do for the country.”
Stay tuned for this episode!!!
