Margaret Clitherow, the Catholic martyr of York, was executed in 1586. She lived just streets away from where Guy Fawkes would grow up. Could her death have influenced his infamous plot?

Listen to Gunpowder and Treason: The Real Guy Fawkes on BBC Sounds now.

I think it is possible. I have been to her house and found her story to be quite moving.
