Another alteration project from earlier in the year. I was on a roll, okay? I had made this red tartan circle skirt a few years ago but my body had changed size, as bodies are known to do, and so now I needed a different fastening option for it to fit. (Apologies for the dusty mirror in advance) -->
Visual Description: a red tartan skirt is worn but the waist band is pulled out to the front to show how the size does not fit anymore.
Side view to see where I needed the new fastening -->
I marked where they needed to be -->
Visual Description: close up of the waistband of the skirt, fingers holding the new position of the button hole in place.
Raided mum's sewing box for the right bits that matched what I had originally used (thanks mum) -->
.
Visual Description: a set of clasps and a single dark grey button sit on top of a sheet of cloth.
Pinned the button in place -->

Visual Description: a close up of the skirt waistband where a finger and thumb hold the new button and a pin beneath it marks the spot where it should be sewn in.
Pinned the claps in place on either side once I knew where they would connect -->

Sewed them in, et voila! A skirt I can continue to wear 😊

Showing the amount of fabric I would have had to cut out and re-sew if I'd made a permanent change rather than adapting it to suit several of my known sizes. Much better!
