'The Urban Farm Project'
Tribe 4/4
The Portanari 'hoarders and carriers': a tribe that worships possession itself: each item a relic, each scrap of cloth a testament. They move like caravans of rust and fabric, their donkeys draped in tattered banners and bundles of scavenged history. Their clothing is a labyrinth of pockets, stitched from centuries of ruin, carrying trinkets, tools, bones, and books. They speak of the world’s end as a thief in the night, and so they hoard against loss, believing salvation lies in the memory of things. Some say their leaders are walking museums; their garments rattle with the ghosts of old civilizations.
[Architectural Parallel]: assemblage theory; nomadic materiality; the body as archive.
[Transhuman Principle]: architecture as accumulation and extension of memory rather than shelter.
[Interpretation]: clothing as building; their architecture moves with them. This blurs the line between artefact and organism, home and skin.
[Research Methodology]: embodied ethnography and object-oriented ontology - reading material culture as the architecture of memory, where things themselves carry agency and history.
