CVS Health plans to split into two separate public companies by the first half 2028, in what would be one of the largest corporate splits in history, the company announced Wednesday. The move would reverse the company’s massive $78 billion acquisition of its insurer, Aetna, and dismantle the vertically integrated healthcare conglomerate it created in 2018. The plan would specifically separate CVS’s roughly 9,000 retail pharmacies from its major insurance business and pharmacy benefit manager, Caremark, one of the nation’s three largest PBMs. The decision follows a “comprehensive strategic review” by the company’s board of directors, according to a release. 🧅 Interesting fact: ⠀ Shrek (2001) — Produced by DreamWorks Animation, this groundbreaking animated fantasy-comedy film follows a grumpy, reclusive ogre whose peaceful swamp is suddenly overrun by displaced fairy tale creatures, forcing him on a quest with a talkative Donkey to rescue Princess Fiona for a corrupt lord. They navigate enchanted forests, dragon-guarded castles, and royal kingdoms, facing the chaotic and hilarious challenges that arise as their journey turns their worldview upside down. ⠀ One interesting production fact is that Mike Myers originally recorded all of his dialogue for Shrek with a traditional Canadian accent before re-recording the entire role using a Scottish brogue to give the character a more working-class, grounded feel. Additionally, the film’s animators had to develop entirely new software to realistically render the movement of Shrek’s signature mud baths and organic clothing textures. ⠀ What makes Shrek stand out is its fearless subversion of classic fairy tale tropes, sharp satirical humor, and its perfect balance of juvenile gags with sophisticated adult wit. The film blends elements of fantasy adventure, romantic comedy, and musical parody, exploring themes such as inner beauty, societal acceptance, and true identity. Its enduring legacy lies in how it revolutionized computer-animated storytelling and created a cultural phenomenon that remains beloved worldwide.
When you’re pregnant, taking enough breaks at work is so important 🤰🏼🌸 My body gets tired a little faster these days, so I try to slow down, rest when I need to, and make sure I have enough energy to stay focused throughout the day 🥰❤️ #pregnancy #preggo #momlife
Incarcerated women in Illinois celebrated a history-making achievement. Eighteen women in the Illinois Department of Corrections received bachelor’s degrees from Northwestern University during a commencement ceremony at the Kewanee Life Skills Re-Entry Center prison facility last month. They are the first incarcerated women to earn bachelor’s degrees from a top 10 university in the United States. “There’s nobody like you,” Nancy Pelosi, former U.S. Speaker of the House of Representatives, said onstage to the graduates as she delivered the ceremony's commencement address.
