Talking to your cat like a tiny roommate is all fun and games until they seemingly follow an instruction. You casually ask for an update on the soup, and five minutes later they arrive with an urgent announcement. Suddenly, you’re wondering whether every conversation you’ve had in front of them deserves a second look.

The funniest possibility is that they’ve understood the household routine this whole time and simply choose when to participate. They can apparently report a kitchen development, but being asked to stop chewing a plant remains a mysterious foreign language. Either way, this little assistant deserves an excellent performance review—and absolutely no responsibility for dinner.
