Why I Build Hand-Coded Software in a Vibe-Coder’s Paradise 💻✨
We’re living in a wild tech era. Anyone can prompt an AI to spin up a prototype or scaffold a landing page in seconds. "Vibe coding" has lowered the barrier to entry to absolute zero.
So why run a dev business dedicated to hand-coding custom solutions?
It comes down to why I fell in love with coding back in 2017: the profound satisfaction of building something real, robust, and entirely your own from the ground up.
My journey started out of pure curiosity. Over the years, that curiosity turned into a craft. Mastering a modern tech stack like React.js, Next.js, React Native, Expo, Tailwind CSS, Supabase, and TypeScript means architecting logic, optimising performance, and engineering seamless UX. There’s an irreplaceable joy in knowing every single piece of logic was deliberately built to scale.
Don’t get me wrong—I use AI daily. It’s an incredible co-pilot. But there’s a massive gulf between an AI-generated proof-of-concept and production software built to run a real business.
Prompt-generated apps often rely on black-box wrappers and bloated abstractions. When things break (and in production, they always do), untangling code you didn’t author is a nightmare. Security holes, scaling bottlenecks, and unpredictable state management are hidden costs.
When software is engineered by hand using a solid React ecosystem, you retain total code control and complete asset ownership. Every component is purposeful, every database relation secure, and the architecture optimised from day one. You get a stable foundation that grows and pivots without hitting artificial walls.
Businesses need resilient platforms that solve real-world problems.
That’s why I build. AI can write functions, but it takes human vision, architectural discipline, and a genuine love for the craft to build software that lasts.
