Homework is pointless and any parent who allows it is daft. Teachers are just teachers that’s all. They’re not gods or life coaches or wardens or child development experts (clearly) they’re not psychologists or counsellors they’re certainly not experts on families they’re just teachers. Usually white middle class and often straight out of uni with the life experience of a carrot. Stop treating them and school with they and it are omnipotent

But then the exam format never suited me, struggled with every exam. Wasn't until I did an MSc as a mature student that I knew how to make myself study. Also helped an MSc isn't just learning by rote, it's where you're allowed to apply critical thinking.

Had a particular lecturer at uni that said I'd be lucky to get a 2.2 as my overall degree (in first year). When my work was marked anonymously and not by him, I came out with a first class degree.

My school gave me a rank for every subject every half term and end of term. The last term was based on exams every year. I would jump 10 places in all classes in that last report. I always assumed “I’m just better at exams” it never occurred to me that some of it was their bias.
