@SceneNoise #NewNoise: This week’s editio of SceneNoise’s ‘Shuffle’ playlist spotlighting all types of new music across the MENA region, our selection features fresh cuts from the likes of Siba, Rasha Nahas and Nadine El Roubi. Syrian artist Siba rails against corrupt power structures on a new politically charged album, Parazeitgeist, while Lebanese-Mexican artist Blu Fiefer comes through with a slow-burning pop tune, ‘Ana Ya Leil’, a late-night reckoning with heartbreak, resentment and ultimate detachment. Dubai-based Egyptian DJ/producer Omar Fayyad contributes to Hidden Gems Records’ debut VA compilation album with a groovy atmospheric house cut, ‘Good Frame (of Mind)’. Meanwhile, Egyptian-Sudanese artist Nadine El Roubi trades loud defiance for radical vulnerability and neo-soul warmth on new album, Life is Beautiful Again. The playlist also features Lolo Zouai with ‘5432ON’, Nurzy with ‘Bayt El Ayle’, and Hussein Yasser and Abyusif with ‘Ya Bent El Maganeen’. Check out the full playlist on www.scenenoise.com [Link in bio] or download the SceneNOW app.
@SceneStyled: For Qatari designer Noora Al-Hajri, reimagining the abaya starts with a simple idea: defying the ordinary. Since founding KHAT Al Abaa in 2020, she has built a design language around clean silhouettes, unexpected fabric combinations and distinctive details that give the traditional garment a contemporary edge. Drawing on influences ranging from Qatari and Bedouin heritage to cultures across the world, Al-Hajri brings different references into a distinctly Qatari perspective. Each piece is developed with close attention to fabric, texture and construction, while personalisation allows clients to adapt designs to their own preferences. Five years on, KHAT is expanding beyond abayas, with a sunglasses line marking a new chapter for the brand. At its core, however, remains Al-Hajri’s belief that fashion should reflect the person wearing it, with confidence and individuality built into every piece. In this #SceneStyled feature, Al-Hajri discusses the cultural influences behind KHAT, her evolving approach to modest fashion and her vision for the brand’s future. Commercial franchise registrations in Saudi Arabia increased by 53% during the first nine months of 2026, according to the Ministry of Commerce. The total number of registrations rose from 4,227 at the end of 2025 to 6,484 by the end of the third quarter of 2026. The sectors recording the highest number of franchise registrations included food and beverages, fuel and petroleum, and fashion and apparel. The Ministry of Commerce said the Commercial Franchise Law has supported growth in the sector by regulating franchise activity, improving transparency and protecting the rights of franchisors and franchisees. The ministry added that the regulatory framework is intended to support investment, improve the quality of goods and services, and strengthen the sustainability and expansion of commercial franchise businesses. @StartupSceneME: Saudi Arabia’s Capital Market Authority (CMA) has approved a new regulatory framework governing initial public offerings (IPOs), it introduces new requirements for companies seeking to list on the Saudi Exchange (Tadawul). The move aims to strengthen transparency, improve the quality of public offerings and make the Saudi capital market more attractive to businesses and investors. The changes target three areas of the listing process: underwriting commitments, investor participation and corporate financial disclosures. Under the new rules, underwriters must finalise their agreements before the book-building process begins and commit to purchasing all offered shares once it starts. The CMA has also introduced stricter controls on investor participation, requiring subscription orders to reflect actual financial capacity, with institutional investors required to demonstrate this through cash or cash equivalents. Meanwhile, companies preparing to list must disclose forward-looking financial forecasts and performance indicators in their prospectuses and registration documents, alongside the assumptions and risks underpinning those projections.
