Just watched it last night. Could easily have been a later entry into the series. Village had literally no resemblance to the original zombie focused games and it was great. I looked at this film the same way. Do I still want a faithful adaptation of the early games? Absolutely. But did I enjoy this one as much as everything after RE6? Definitely. Probably helped tho, that I already knew not to expect anything other than a few Easter eggs.

I understand that he wants it to be separate from the games but you can’t take an IP name and then get upset when people compare it to the IP it’s names sake is, I feel like this keeps happening where directors take a known IP and then do their own thing with it and are frustrated or surprised when people compare it to the original IP

I liked the movie, it was a good movie. The RE 7 fan film on YouTube blows it out of the water as a RE film though

Loved the movie but it shouldn’t have been called just resident evil. Alluding to resident evil universe and actually being resident evil are different. I think it does a great job alluding but I think if the whole movie is basically a reference to the franchise then it should be at least called “RE- something” to showcase that. Really a good horror/zombie movie but as a resident evil movie it just misses the mark a bit not enough to really matter to me in the long run still a great movie, one of the better ones this year too
