Introducing a new voice from Edraak Nashi’in!
Meet Shanza Munir, an MPhil American Studies scholar at Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, whose research explores democracy, media, and power. Her work has appeared in the Journal of Arts and Linguistic Studies, and she has contributed to research projects with the Planning Commission of Pakistan.
In her latest blog for Edraak Nashi’in, “Is Democracy Being Killed by Elections?”, Shanza challenges the assumption that holding elections is enough to guarantee democracy. She examines how electoral processes can persist even as political freedoms, fair competition, and institutional accountability are gradually weakened.
At Edraak Nashi’in, we believe in creating space for emerging writers and young thinkers to question, reflect, and bring fresh perspectives to important conversations.
