This place was one of the most surreal places to visit.
Sure I was more of a mountain biker than I ever was a bmx, but watching Dave Mirra do a double backflip at xgames was the first time someone blew my mind with a bike.
The hours I spent watching every Greenville pro in videos as a teenager is probably comparable to my current screen time. Randomly having the chance to visit Jaycee skatepark had this profound effect on me that almost felt performative at one point haha.
When working at Crankworx in Rotorua I even got the chance to make a video with Nyquist - a childhood hero who exceeded my expectations of what it meant to be a good dude.
Place is insane, I wonder how much it’s ridden now? Would have been cool to be like, “oh man I’d love to ride this!” But I’d obviously have been too scared. Maybe I could have hopped the driveway and done a 180 on a quarter pipe near the bottom. Could have done that for hours though!
The impact Mirra had on so many people, with one of the epicentres of that being this very skatepark… tough to fathom.

10 years since we lost him, time flies. I just saw one of his helmets is on display at @northshorebikeparkbc and one of his jerseys, special pieces remind us of a childhood hero gone too soon.

And it’s the most basic design park that can be found anywhere and the pros only road here is crazy. Means you don’t have to have a lot to ride what the pros ride
