This is the real bedouin hospitality in the Gulf 🤍

Traveling solo (with no other human with me) definitely helps me to attract moments like this one, when I got invited by these Bedouin men somewhere in Oman 🇴🇲

I literally just parked my car on the deep burning sand when two of them run to me asking if I had enough to eat and if I was really all by myself in this French 4x4…

I ended up spending a couple of days with them and I already struggle to retain my tears while typing this story for you. Because I miss the sense of family far away from mine…and without knowing it, they just recreated for me.

I have missed laughing endlessly.
I’m blessed.

Bye Oman? The most intense solo drive crossing part 1/3
I will stay vague with details for safety reasons. But I made it to Saudi today. The most intense day since overlanding.
Woke up 2am | Drive 3.5 hours | Border crossing | the rest is insane till tonight.

This time, this Bedouin family needed my help 🇴🇲

For a few days, this Bedouin family of Oman, had been bringing me food, sharing their meals with me and making sure I was never left without anything.

Then one day, they came back… but this time, they needed my help.

Their tires were flat, and they remembered the strange French woman traveling through the desert with a compressor in her truck (yeah, another Bedouin must have told them for good).

So there we were again — helping each other in the middle of nowhere.

Just humans looking after humans.

I think I have officially earned a new title out here: the Bedouin with the compressor…

I started singing a Nasheed with Bedouins…

And all started talking about camels. And if you follow my expeditions since a while you’re probably aware of my love for camels.

I had extraordinary experiences with the sacred animal in Saudi Arabia and my biggest wish would be to have camels one day.

For now, I just read a lot about them. And I know they are mentioned in the Quran. When I told the Bedouin men that day, they seemed shocked. I love when two cultures meet, it creates moments like this one: unreal and immensely human.

And the conversation ended up with me trying to sing in Arabic (of course it’s more of a ‘nananananananaan’ type of lyrics) one of my favourite halal songs (or Nasheed).

A Nasheed is a is a type of vocal song or chant, often associated with Islamic culture. It can be religious or inspirational, with themes such as faith, gratitude, peace, love of God, good character, or community.

I’m not even Muslim, I just travel with all my heart.

As a woman solo on the road I often get these reactions from people I meet.

I’m now used to it. But when it comes from real Bedouins, I’m always flattered and proud. They are my heroes. I’ve nurtured a massive fascination for Bedouins around the world.

And even if I’m happy to say ‘I’m a Bedouin’ in Arabic, I am not one. Bedouins is much more than we think, I do think is a magical status, to me at least.

They are the definition of freedom and one of the only inhabitants of our Planet to really live in the present moment. And they don’t need to follow a trend to make it happen.

I’m blessed with these encounters.

Wow just saw this on my feed and it brought back such good memories of those times. It was so fun on that tour. Even though we worked around the clock, we were so ahead of our time using different designers and mixing it with my designs as well. Designers were not dressing Artist, then for tours, and if they did, they wanted to be the only one and not share the stage with other designers. We changed that. Beyonce always has challenged every thing that People told her could not be done because “this is the way it’s always been done” from music to fashion to her businesses! she doesn’t follow the rules she makes new ones. She is always challenging every person around her , and making things bigger and better !! I’m very proud of that. It was a change in fashion history and like so many other things we were the first. ❤️🙏🏽
