14 hours agoYosemite West is an awesome "off valley but still inside the NP" location to stay in. Just 30 minutes drive from tunnel view, and the apartment we stayed in was really good and high end. And every morning you get to pass through tunnel view, which is awesome (as long as there are no fires around)
17 hours agoCurry isn’t the cheapest (by far). The campgrounds are- $15 to 25 a night. Upper and Lower Pines, North Pines, Camp 4.
a day agoShow trash cans in curry village where you can hear them bang from 109 meters
a day agoBoth are way too much. Get a tent and stay by the river, but it's at like thirty five dollars a night
a day agoI am very fortunate. At different times in my life, I have managed to stay in every type of overnight accommodation Yosemite has to offer, except a High Sierra Camp. That was my backpacking era, but I did stop at one to take a luxurious hot shower on my way from Tuolomne Meadows to the Valley. As a child, my family often camped at Bridalveil Campground either in tents or a camper. As a young adult I tried what was called the Housekeeping Camp, Curry Village Tent Cabins, and Yosemite Lodge for many years. Before a huge wind storm knocked many trees down and onto several of them, I loved to stay in some wood cabins along the Merced River which was part of the Lodge. I would sometimes enjoy a meal at the Ahwahnee Hotel. Then one year, as a surprise, my husband booked us into the Ahwahnee for several nights. That was indeed very special. It was a whole different experience and enjoyable, but every stay, no matter where I stayed, had its unique joys and left happy memories. Now I live part time in Mammoth and often drive over for the day when Tioga Pass is open. In the winter, staying in Oakhurst conveniently allows for skiing at Badger Pass. One winter, an aquaintance kindly lent us their A-frame cabin located in Yosemite West. Well, that was a challenge due to deep snow that year. Never going to do that one again.🤣
a day agoThere’s like a building in curry village with individual rooms and connected bathrooms. That’s where the middle ground is IMO, best option
a day agoAlso note that Curry Village Reservations charges an additional 10% non refundable fee of your entire stay. This fee covers reservation services and does NOT pay towards the cost of the tents. For two nights (1 week day + 1 weekend in mid October) I spent almost $650 for a heated tent.
a day agosomething in between, with either better parking or better transportation options,.....
