🔥 HOT WEATHER. HOTTER PADEL. JOHANNESBURG OPEN! 🏆🎾
The Changan SA Grand Tour rolled into Norwood this past weekend (30 Oct – 1 Nov) for the Johannesburg Open, marking the first-ever SAPA tournament at 10by20 Padel Pasion!
The temperatures were soaring, and so was the level of padel! ☀️ Fast rallies, huge smashes and incredible battles were the order of the weekend.
🏆 LADIES OPEN CHAMPIONS – MIKAYLA PLITT & MARNÉ ROOS
Mikayla teamed up with her former coach Marné, and what a combination they proved to be! Playing with incredible composure, confidence and class, the pair were on top of their game throughout the tournament.
They capped off an outstanding weekend with a commanding 6–1, 6–3 victory over Linge Steenkamp and Roets in the final. A brilliant performance from two hugely talented competitors! 👏
🏆 MEN’S OPEN CHAMPIONS – JL VAN ANTWERPEN & JOSH HEATH
The Babolat Boys are cooking! 🔥
From their opening match, JL and Josh were in sensational form, producing explosive padel, incredible court coverage and some massive smashes.
Their chemistry as a pairing is getting better with every tournament, and they’re starting to look like our very own Chingallán! 🇿🇦💥
After an impressive run through the draw, including a 6–3, 6–2 semifinal victory, they claimed the title with a hard-fought 6–4, 7–5 win over Shaun Leagas and Paul Anderson.
A first SAPA title together for this exciting pairing, and surely plenty more to come!
👏 Congratulations to all our champions, finalists and competitors, and a big thank you to the organisers and everyone at 10by20 Padel Pasion for hosting a fantastic weekend of competitive padel.
The Changan SA Grand Tour continues to deliver incredible action as South African padel goes from strength to strength! 🇿🇦
