1984 GHS graduate Clint Sawyer has passed away.
Clint was a friend to everyone, and was always willing to offer a helping hand to anyone in need. The most special thing about Clint was that he was a humble man. Clint accomplished so much in his life, but you would never know it from talking with him.
He is widely known as the best pitcher in Georgetown High School history. He graduated in 1984 as the school leader in career wins, wins in a single season, strikeouts in a season, strikeouts in a career and career ERA, and 42 years later, he still holds those records.
In 1985, Clint signed with The University of South Carolina and pitched in The College World Series for The Gamecocks.
We will miss Clint Sawyer, but we are so thankful for the memories that we have with him! Clint was inducted into the Georgetown High School Hall of Fame in 2026
RIP Clint “The Hook” Sawyer.
