Happy Day of the Dead 💀 2026 My Friends! Or in Spanish, “Feliz Dia De Los Muertos Mis Amigos!”

Since there’s an elephant 🐘 exhibit now at Fernbank, I should mention that elephants 🐘 are one of the few animals that mourn their dead. 💀

Also, since I work with bones 🦴 a lot, I chose to do another pumpkin 🎃 carving for this time of year. To show the reconstructed skull 💀 of the Newest Dinosaur 🦖 from Mexico. 🇲🇽 For this Mexican holiday. The Thick Headed Troodontid, Xenovenator. Painted with decoration like a Day of the Dead Skull. 💀

Like I did last year with a Siats skeleton. 🩻 But this is totally Mexican. To make more sense. Like how Day of the Dead isn’t intended to be like Halloween, it’s like Georgia O’Keefe’s vision of bones. 🦴 As symbols of beauty or rebirth. Not fear.

I didn’t hollow this one out. Many 3D pumpkin 🎃 carvings don’t involve that. I also didn’t carve it into a 3D shape like the previous one, so I could have a paintable surface. Also because there was a little bit of mold.

I used acrylic paint markers. (Acrylic paint 🎨) Using references from Day of the Dead Skull 💀 images. Starting with white, before adding the designs. It’s not like the previous one, nor is it in 3D like the one from last year, but still it’s a nice colorful image. Happy Dia De Los Muertos Everyone!
