Opened in 1695 after nearly twenty years under construction. Sir Christopher Wren designed this masterpiece free of charge as a personal favour to his friend Isaac Barrow, who was Master of Trinity College in the 1670s. Virtuoso carver, Grinling Gibbons, supplied the intricate limewood carvings which adorn the interior.
