"When you move like a jellyfish, rhythm is nothing; you go with the flow, you don't stop..." 🎶
Jack Johnson isn't wrong - these graceful drifters often make their way into the St. John's and Fort George Rivers within the Preserve by floating with the tides in and out of these coastal rivers. Jellyfish are some of Earth's oldest and most fascinating creatures and have floated through our oceans for over 500 million years!
Jellyfish play an important role in marine ecosystems - they are both predators and a food source, they provide shelter for juvenile fish and crabs, and when they die their bodies deposit rich nutrients into the deep ocean.
Most of all, jellyfish remind us of the beauty and mystery beneath the waves.
Have you seen a jellyfish during your visit?
