The sadhaka (practitioner) is traditionally enjoined to offer her food while they are themselves in a state of uchhista often with remnants of food still in their mouth or hands, or offering food that has been partially partaken. This breaks all conventional notions of ritual purity and pollution (shuddhi and ashuddhi). It signifies that for this fierce, transgressive form of the Goddess, all dualities of pure and impure dissolve.
